7 startups, 4 failed, 3 exit. Hong Kong serial entrepreneur, Billy Yuen, shares his latest poverty alleviation Project BOLDED (BOLDED). Philippines is the project’s launch region.
BOLDED exists to pursuit one goal: provide a fighting chance for all underprivileged.
The project’s objective is to make the business world realize there’s a valuable untapped pool of motivated talent. At present this group is “undervalued by the marketplace”. Given the opportunity, this talent pool will contribute to the company’s bottom-line. Their employment will also make them the first in their family to get a decent corporate job, effectively ending poverty for the entire family.
Part Documentary Private Screening - Billy Yuen
A short documentary series that aims to promote a different viewpoint compared to how most people perceive “the underprivileged”. We aim to invite decision makers to see how people from disadvantaged communities overcome tremendous challenges to achieve their goals. It is our hope that when potential employers witness this fighting spirit, they too will want to invite this hidden talent pool to join and benefit their organization.
The film format is 3-min ‘mini portraits’ which give viewers a quick glimpse into their lives.
Bill will explain to the audience, frame-by-frame how the documentary is made. The audience will learn about film making while understanding the message that the film intend to convey.
Part Crowdfunding - MaryAnn
MaryAnn will explain how crowdfunding can help individuals raise seed money to test new ideas. BOLDED documentary series is crowdfunding on FringeBacker.

In the same year, he produced a short documentary series and launched a “movement building” campaign named BOLDED. The goal is to change the world’s perception about underprivileged young people.
